چکیده

Situations, the semantic interpretations of context, provide a better basis for selecting adaptive behaviours than context itself. The definition of situations typically rests on the ability to define logical expressions and inference methods to identify particular situations. In this paper we extend this approach to provide for efficient organisation and selection in systems with large numbers of situations having structured relationships to each other. We apply lattice theory to define a specialisation relationship across situations, and show how this can be used to improve the identification of situations using lattice operators and uncertain reasoning. We demonstrate the technique against a real-world dataset.

Modeling and manipulating the structure of hierarchical schemas for the web

The Semantic Web is the next step of the current Web where information will become more machine-understandable to support effective data discovery and integration. Hierarchical schemas, either in the form of tree-like structures (e.g., DTDs, XML schemas), or in the form of hierarchies on a category/subcategory basis (e.g., thematic hierarchies of portal catalogs), play an important role in this...

A Hierarchical Situation Calculus

A situation calculus is presented that provides a solution to the frame problem for hierarchical situations, that is, situations that have a modular structure in which parts of the situation behave in a relatively independent manner. This situation calculus is given in a relational, functional, and modal logic form. Each form permits both a single level hierarchy or a multiple level hierarchy, ...

Domain modelling with hierarchies of alternative viewpoints

Domain modelling can be used within requirements engineering to reveal the conceptual models used by the participants, and relate these to one another. However, existing elicitation techniques used in AI adopt a purely cognitive stance, in that they model a single problemsolving agent, and ignore the social and organisational context. This paper describes a framework for representing alternativ...

Interval-valued Epistemic (IVE) Fluents

We have developed a syntactic approach to representing knowledge within the situation calculus using interval arithmetic. Knowledge was first incorporated into the situation calculus using a possible-worlds approach. Unfortunately, this previous approach is not amenable to easy implementation. This is because it is not clear how to specify the initial situation as the number of possible worlds ...
